Graveyard Train are an Australian band founded by a few bar tenders from a seedy bar in North Melbourne, Victoria. The band began in 2008 as a side project with the intention of sticking to a 'Horror Country' theme.

The first year saw Graveyard Train play in every little bar and pub throughout Melbourne as if attempting to break a record, they played over 100 shows in 1 year.

In 2009 they dragged a reel to reel tape machine to an old Scout Hall in the Victorian Mountains. There they recorded their first album, The Serpent & The Crow. This was launched at Melbourne's legendary Tote Hotel, where it sold out and the album received warm local recognition.

Although 2008 and 2009 involved interstate shows it wasn't till 2010 when the touring became much more frequent. With what spare time there was the band felt the need to record their 2nd album, The Drink, The Devil & The Dance. This time the launch sold out The Corner Hotel and endured multiple accolades including #2 on the Australian Country Music Charts. During this time the live show grew as it saw the signature 'hammer and chain' being beefed up with a full time drummer

After a first European tour including Edinburgh, London, Belgium, Holland and Germany, the band continued a heavy touring schedule in Australia. Upon this return they incorporated the booking services of Premier Artists. From here and into 2011 Graveyard Train became festival highlights from Australia to Canada. Meredith Music Festival, Golden Plains, Woodford Folk Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Hillside and Wave Rock to name a few.

All this experience and energy was put into a 3rd album, 'Hollow', in 2012. This national tour saw the band sell out venues across the country from The Forum Theatre to The HiFi Brisbane and even Castlemaine's Theatre Royal.

Not only did the album tour sell out across the country but the album is well received.  Lead single 'Im Gone' sits at #1 on the AIRIT NOW charts for nigh on 3 months and is the most played song of 2012 on PBS FM, 3RRR FM and 4ZZZ FM.

In addition to this the album scores:

  • 5 Star review in Australia's leading print, The Age.
  • 'Im Gone', 2012 #1 Most Played Song on 3RRR, 3PBS, RTR.
  • Rolling Stone Magazine, Top 20 artists to watch in 2013
  • PBS FM Top 10 Album of 2012
  • 3RRR Album of the Week

Graveyard Train explore dark and sometimes menacing territories. Twisting and pushing the boundaries of 'alt-country' to the extreme, the bands live show is a macabre journey that seamlessly moves from swampy stomp to deranged psychedelia to folk ballad.

2013??  Another album, this time recorded live in one of Australia's oldest theatres.  A US tour, a heavy drinking winter and a sweaty summer.
